Can your PC run Wild West Pioneers?
If it has 64-bit Windows 10, 12 GB of RAM and a GTX 1060 6GB or RX 590 class card, yes, at 30fps on Low at 1080p. The recommended spec aims for 60fps at Medium-High. Either way you need 14 GB free, and it is Windows only.

Minimum and recommended specs
Straight from the Steam store page. Both tiers also say “Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system”. (Listed on the Steam store page)
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10/11 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-4570 / AMD Ryzen 3 1300X | Intel Core i5-8600K / AMD Ryzen 5 1600 |
| Memory | 12 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB / AMD Radeon RX 590 8GB | NVIDIA GTX 1660 SUPER 6GB / AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 8GB |
| DirectX | Version 11 | Version 12 |
| Storage | 14 GB available space | 14 GB available space |
| What it targets | 30fps, Low Settings, 1080p | 60fps, Medium-High Settings, 1080p |
The gaps worth noticing: memory goes from 12 to 16 GB, DirectX from 11 to 12, and the target doubles from 30 to 60 frames while settings rise from Low to Medium-High. Resolution stays at 1080p in both, and neither tier lists anything above that.
Why is my graphics card at 99%?
It came up in the demo. A player with an RTX 2070, comfortably above the recommended card, saw 99% GPU use at every setting, high or low. Toplitz answered that the team was still optimising: “We need to find out why it runs fine on some systems and not so well on others, like yours, where it runs with a 99% GPU load.” (Posted by Toplitz in Steam discussions: publisher reply on GPU load in the demo) That was the demo build. Among the changes since, the team lists performance work: “We improved graphics, performance, road systems,” in the words of Chris from EmpireCraft Studios. (Said in Thank you, pioneers! (Toplitz Productions)) If your card runs flat out in the Early Access build too, a frame cap in your graphics driver keeps it from working harder than the 30 or 60 fps the specs aim for.
Does it run on Mac or Linux?
No. Steam lists Windows only, with no macOS or Linux build. (Listed on the Steam store page) The Mac question, including what Toplitz said when asked, is on the Mac page.
Is it Steam Deck verified?
| Valve’s Deck rating | Playable, with notes: small interface text, default controller setup not fully functional, glyphs that do not match the Deck, no automatic keyboard, default settings not smooth (Shown in Valve's Steam Deck compatibility report for the game) |
| Controller support | None at launch. Toplitz: “Currently not, but possible for the future” (Posted by Toplitz in Steam discussions: publisher reply on controller support) |
So the Deck works, but expect to lower the settings, lean in to read the interface and set up the controls yourself. The full platform picture, consoles included, is on the platform overview.
Where are the save files and logs?
The publisher gave both folders when asking a player for a crash report:
| Logs | C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Toplitz Productions\WildWestPioneers (Player.log, with the previous run kept as Player-prev.log) |
| Saves | C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Toplitz Productions\WildWestPioneers\Saves |
(Posted by Toplitz in Steam discussions: publisher reply with the save and log folders) Replace USERNAME with your Windows user name; AppData is a hidden folder. The demo had no autosave, and Toplitz said then that “Autosave will be part of the Early Access version, that’s for sure”. (Posted by Toplitz in Steam discussions: publisher reply on wells and housing range) In the Early Access build it autosaves when a new in-game day begins, so save by hand before long sessions. (Shown in BUILD A CITY ON THE FRONTIER! Wild West Pioneers (DeepSpaceMatt, YouTube, launch-day footage)) Editing saves and cheats is covered on cheats, trainers and saves.
